the PDF files was eliminated to conserve bandwidth, with the result that it may
be necessary to use Version 8 of Acrobat Reader to read them.
On July 8, 2006, a spelling
error was fixed (with the approval of the author) on page 257 of the text (in
Chapter 19), corresponding to page 261 of the PDF files.

On June 23, 2004, a typing error was fixed on page 259 of the text (in Chapter 19), corresponding to page 263 of the PDF files. The PDF files were made compatible with Version 4 of Acrobat Reader, and were compressed by about twenty percent.
